Quick thoughts before I go to bed. I miss American places where it is illegal to smoke inside. After sitting at the bar for a few hours, my throat feels really scratchy because of all the second hand smoke I was surrounded by. It's gross. Whatever, I live in a castle.

Second day of class
Hey everyone. I just wanted to start off today's blog by saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!! Don't worry I won't say how big of an old fart you are by now.
As you can tell from my previous posts (Make sure you look at those to see all the pictures I haven't been able to post) the internet is now working. Not only that, but they stopped being stupid and are now keeping it on 24/7 which is exciting.
I want to start off on a little tangent. I am sitting in my room right now which is right at the top of the stairs of the Voorburcht. That means we can hear everyone who comes in and out of the door as well as what is going on downstairs. At the bottom of the stairs are a few vending machines. The other night (I think it was Saturday night) it was about 3:30am and my roommates and I were just turning the lights off and getting into bed. After about a minute of silence we hear this humming noise. I say to everyone "Is someone vacuuming?" The girl in the tower room above ours have a vacuum upstairs, but we couldn't think to why they would be using it at 3:30am. About 30 seconds later we hear a knock at our door and this girl is standing there with cups of hot chocolate. She told us that her friend was extremely stoned and drunk and put 2 euros into the hot chocolate/coffee machine that doesn't give change. So now he is buying 10 hot chocolates. It was really weird, yet sort of funny. I might start a tally of how many times I get free hot chocolate from someone who is either drunk and/or high this semester.
Anyway. Today I had my second class. Ethics or values. It is taught by a German man named Chris Bremmers who, like my acting teacher, does not speak English perfectly. He was very nervous and talked very slow and I was trying not to have my mind wander the whole class. The main highlight of the class was when he tried to say "Jews" but I thought he said "juice." Luckily we had a few breaks to make the 4 hours go by a little easier, but it was still sort of rough. We will see how it goes.
Dinner tonight was actually really really good. They had steak with a peppercorn sauce and really good brocolli. This was probably the first night since I've gotten here that I have been full and satisfied after eating.
Not much going on tonight. I think I am just going to catch up on all my internet needs and start reading the 900000 things for ethics. I don't really want to...but oh well, I live in a Castle.

Internet is up!
Yayyyy finally!! I decided to post some pictures that I have been holding out on for a few days because of the lack of internet.
This is my HUGE key to my room. Isn't it so cool. I kind of want to "accidentally" forget where is when we leave, but the fee for it is 50 Euros
The first night here we went on a walk at sunset behind the castle.
These are some black swans that make obnoxious noises.
There is this white gate to stop cars from driving into the Castle and on it has a sign that says "Toe Gang"
Blake and I decided to bring the Shakey Face Game to Europe...
My first European shakey face
Hannah doing shakey face
Sam

Kathryn wouldn't do it...
Alicia just kept laughing

Onder de Linden
Me and Alicia at the Linden
Me annoyed at Blake for not taking the picture.
Sam ordered a "Kasteel Beer" because he thought it was fitting. He then realized it was 11% alcohol and tasted like it.
Earlier that night we had Dutch juice boxes...
We dubbed this the "American Picture"
Later that night while at the Linden we took "The Dutch Picture"
But it took a few tries to get the picture

(Notice how Sam's face does not move in any of those pictures)
Move shakey face...

Lily tried to join the game...
But just laughed
We showed her how it's done
So Emily, Lily and Kathryn all tried...
But laughed
...And laughed...
...And laughed some more...(Kathryn even hid her face)
Lily is getting it...
She just needed the help of me and Blake to master it

Blake and Sam tried to do a self-shakey face
It didn't work...
Caroline joined in but her hair got in the way
Michelle had the same problem...

(I promise everyone, or at least most everyone, was sober while these pictures were taken)
The road we live on.
I think I better put the next pictures in another entry
