Ok so I know that I said I wouldn't be updating this for two weeks, but I lied. The President of Emerson College, Jackie Leibergott, is sort of a big joke around campus. Everyone says that she is an alcoholic because she is sort of weird and shakes a lot. Because of the whole issue with our visas (Emerson students can't apply for student visas because we are not a European college, so we are only allowed to stay here for 90 under the Schengen Treaty) Jackie decided to come to visit and talk to the governor of Limburg (The province in the Netherlands where we are) to try and work something out. I have no clue what the result of that will but, but we definitely benefited from her visit. Last night we had a big reception for her. It was held in the barn (Which I had never been in yet but is really nice). They had a bunch of tables set up and nice place settings but the thing everyone was most excited about was the free wine. Ok technically I guess it wasn't free because it is probably coming out of money that our parents payed for with tuition, but everyone got a little "happy."
Me and my friend Alicia at dinner.
Me with Dulcia Meijers. She is the director of the castle program and is one of the most well spoken women I have ever met in my life.
The Barn
Jackie getting served alcohol. So glad I was able to get a picture of that.
Dulcia introducing this guy who used to be a part of a hit band from the 70s called Focus. They had a hit song in America called "Hocus Pocus" that made it on the Billboard Top 100 (I never heard of him, but maybe some of you have...). He was amazing though. He played the keyboard, sang and played the flute (Sometimes at the same time).
Cake.
ME AND JACKIE!!!
Lily, Jackie and Caroline.
There were also these two dancers that performed for us who did a routine inspired by martial arts. It was really good, but I did not get any pictures of that.
Finally here is a video of the musical theatre majors singing "A New World" from Songs For a New World for Jackie.
I am packing for London and stressing out about what to bring, what not to bring and about how much money I have. Oh well, I live in a castle.
